Even though Pope Julius I chose December 25 for the feast of the Nativity, it seems unlikely that Jesus was born in December, especially on the 25th. When the shepherds heard the announcement of Jesus’ birth from the angels , they still lived in the fields like the night (Luke 2: 8), which would not be a good time of the year to keep the sheep and on top of that, to be there in the middle of the night. Bible scholars believe Jesus was born in September and around 5-6 BC.

Yes, Christmas stopped a war. It was World War I and a “Christmas truce” was declared in 1914 between the British and the Germans. It started when troops on both sides pulled Christmas Eve out of the war and then started singing Christmas carols. Later, they came out to greet and shake hands while some even exchanged cigarettes as gifts.
Hope you can take advantage of these Christmas questions and answers. There are still a lot of things I don’t know, but I know the most important thing about Christmas. This is where the Word of God dwelled with God and became flesh (John 1) to live a sinless life to offer himself as a sacrifice once and for all (Rom 5:10) for those who repented and believed . If you believe in him you have eternal life (John 3: 36a) but if you reject him you have the wrath of God abiding on you right now (John 3: 36b).
